2. Reinforcement in concrete

The use of reinforced concrete structures is justified by the need to ensure the durability of the structure for the duration of the project. In particular, where reinforced concrete is concerned, the design and installation of the reinforcement must ensure that the concrete is sufficiently encapsulated (physical barrier to aggressive agents such as CO 2 or chloride ions Cl - ), and that cracking is limited (additional constructive provisions).

  • The main risks to these functions may come from the concrete itself, or from its environment:
