6. Material properties

The values given here are to be considered as characteristic values, unless they are specified as design values. The mechanical properties of wood at 20°C should be taken as those given in EC5-1-1 for normal temperature calculations.

6.1 Mechanical properties

For wood-frame members in floor and wall systems completely filled with insulation, Appendix C(I) gives simplified methods for reducing the section's strength and stiffness parameters.

Appendix A(I) gives a simplified method for reducing the resistance of wooden elements exposed to parameterized fires.
