Aggregates can be natural, artificial or recycled.

Natural aggregates are mineral grains derived from solid or loose rock that has undergone no transformation other than mechanical.

Artificial aggregates are mineral grains produced by an industrial process involving thermal or other transformations.

Recycled aggregates are obtained by processing an inorganic material previously used in construction.

1.1 Natural aggregates
