 INTRODUCTION

Unlike other construction techniques, masonry is characterized by a great diversity of components: it is in fact a mortar assembly of small elements of very diverse nature, shape, dimensions or internal structure, to which are applied, as the case may be, on the exterior or interior side, various products or coating systems able to respond, among other things, to the variety of appearances desired by users. It is these numerous elementary materials, classified by destination, that are defined in this article.
