2. A little history
1945 marked the start of post-war reconstruction, and 1946 the nationalization of the electricity and gas industries. The same year saw the publication of the first gas safety standard, NF P 45-201, dated March 31, 1946, aimed at the safe domestic use of gas. This is an important standard, as its architecture has since been used in all regulatory texts: terminology, purpose, general conditions for the installation of piping before and after the meter, shut-off devices, appliance installation conditions, supply of combustion air and evacuation of combustion products, commissioning (now gas supply or gas on-gas or gas on-gas) and installation certificate (now certificate of conformity).
As this standard was not mandatory, it was replaced by the decree of October 15, 1962, issued in application of the decree of May 23, 1962, concerning safety rules inside residential...
