6. Industrial development of bioethanol steam reforming
The industrialization of hydrogen production from bioethanol reforming is still very limited. In 2006, HyRadix (Eden Energy) joined forces with IFP (now IFP Énergies Nouvelles) to develop hydrogen generators from liquid hydrocarbons, starting with biosourced ethanol. This development is based on the autothermal steam reforming technology of natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), technology of the industrial H 2 Aptus generator ® marketed by HyRadix since 2005. Target markets include:
the glass industry (float glass manufacture) ;
metal treatment (annealing process in metallurgy) ;
hydrogenation of used oils;
transportation.
