Generally speaking, PSA technology for purifying hydrogen is chosen for its competitive cost, but also because it enables high purity to be easily achieved. In the absence of very weakly adsorbable gases, such as helium or argon, it is relatively easy to go from ultrapure (1 ppm volume) to a few tenths of a percent impurities.
