6. Cycles with zeotropic refrigerant mixtures

To avoid the disadvantages of conventional cascade systems, in particular the need for multiple compressors, cycles with zeotropic (or non-azeotropic) refrigerant mixtures can be used, with a single compressor. These types of mixtures can be used for :

  • mixing cycles without phase separator and with recovery heat exchanger;

  • mixing cycles with phase separators, or "integrated cascade" cycles.
