5. Total greenhouse effect
5.1 General case
The total greenhouse effect is the sum of the direct greenhouse effect and the indirect greenhouse effect known as Total Equivalent Warming Impact (TEWI). It represents the emissions of the refrigeration or air-conditioning system during its operation, excluding the generation of emissions during its design, manufacture, installation, maintenance and dismantling.
To take these parameters into account, total emissions over the plant's entire life cycle, or Life Cycle Climate Performance (LCCP), are assessed.
A new concept, that of eco-efficiency, introduces, in addition to the environmental aspect, the economic aspect, investment, operating cost, lifetime and amortization.
