2. Cascade cycles

The use of a pure phase-change refrigerant, as described in article [BE 8 095] (§ 1.2.3 and [4]), remains limited to the temperature interval between the fluid's critical point temperature, at which the latent heat of transformation is cancelled out, and its triple point temperature, below which simple mechanical cycling disappears. On the other hand, this same temperature range would give rise to excessive technical constraints, mainly linked to the volume of the fluid at low pressure and the gap between high and low pressure, resulting in abnormally high compression...
