2.1 Destruction of the ozone layer
Decisions taken to eradicate chlorine-containing fluids appear to be bearing fruit. The latest measurements show a halt in destruction, and experts expect the ozone layer to recover between 2065 and 2080.
Data from the IPCC Fourth assessment report 2007 ( § 7) (table 5 ) show that between 1998 and 2005 :
a slight reduction (– 1%) in CFC content;
a 33% increase in HCFC content, which is still present in over 50% of installations today;...
