1.1 Operating principle
The principle behind the Canadian heat exchanger is to circulate air at low speed through sealed underground PVC or polyethylene pipes, in order to renew the indoor climate (figure 1 ).
In winter, the outside air drawn into the shaft by the fan heats up on contact with the ground before entering the building. As a result, heating requirements for air renewal are reduced, and the building is naturally kept frost-free.
