7.1 Emissions from coal combustion
Solid residues from coal combustion are essentially composed of ash (mineral matter), unburned carbon and sometimes unreacted flue gas treatment agents.
In generic terms, these solid residues consist of boiler ashes (bottom ash), fly ash captured on the flue gas path, and solid emissions (dust) discharged into the atmosphere from the stack.
