5. Conclusion
Both an abundant energy resource and a transportation fuel, natural gas offers physico-chemical characteristics that make it a fuel with very high potential for energy diversification and the reduction of CO 2 emissions.
Variations in fuel composition are a challenge to overcome in vehicle applications. Although the available control systems are sufficiently robust to overcome these variations (albeit to a limited extent), they nevertheless have a direct influence on the amount of energy stored on board the vehicle, and hence its range.
