Methane hydrates are not just laboratory chemical compounds, as their stability range is compatible with the pressure and temperature conditions found in natural environments on Earth.
3.1 Origins of methane
For methane hydrates to form, sufficient quantities of methane must be present. This methane can have two origins (figure 6 ).
