1.1 Production
Hydrogen can be produced from non-renewable resources (natural gas, fuels, coal) or renewable resources (water, wind, sun, biomass), and a number of parameters such as purity, desired gas quantity and the availability of the chosen energy resource all play a part in the choice of production method. A wide range of processes are available to produce hydrogen in an economically and ecologically satisfactory way. The processes most commonly used today fall into two categories: thermochemical processes and electrolytic production.
