9. Conclusions
The absolute necessity of sharply lowering CO 2 emissions to combat climate change calls for a drastic reduction in the use of fossil fuels in every country in the world. This is a highly ambitious goal, since fossil fuels are the main source of the energy we need (80%), and their resources are limited. They must therefore eventually be replaced by the two major non-CO 2 emitting and inexhaustible energy sources, namely the energy released by nuclear fission and/or fusion and the various forms of energy involved in the operation of the solar atmospheric machine.
