ABSTRACT

This paper follows that on Thermodynamic Charts: Mixtures used in Thermal Machines [BE8042] in which are presented charts used to represent fluid mixtures used for refrigeration and organic Rankine cycle (ORC), and absorption cycles. These types of diagram are, however, not those that appear best suited to certain applications, such as air treatment and studies of flue gases. For these applications, professional practice has led to specific diagrams being adopted, which are presented in this paper.

 INTRODUCTION

C et article is the subject of two types of study:

  • determination of the diagrams of wet mixtures, whose composition can vary as a result of the condensation or vaporization of water contained in a gas, with air conditioning and climate control as the main fields of application;

  • drawing up the combustion diagrams most commonly used to characterize the reactions taking place in boilers, combustion chambers or burners.

First, the physical phenomena involved, which are often little-known, are explained.

Finally, with the permission of Presses de l'École des mines de Paris, this article makes extensive borrowings from the author's "Energy Systems" works .
