4.1 Mass transfer
Resistance to heat and mass transfer is localized near the interface in a gas film. If, for simplicity's sake, we consider a binary mixture, the most volatile component accumulates near the liquid-vapor interface. The variation in concentration of each component near the interface (figure 3 ) induces diffusion in the direction perpendicular to the flow. For the most volatile compound, noted with index j = 1, we can write
