4. Conclusion
The Aube disposal center (CSA), commissioned by Andra in 1992, is designed to handle low- and intermediate-level short-lived waste produced in France, in particular waste from nuclear facilities: operating waste from nuclear power plants, fuel cycle facilities and CEA laboratories. It also offers a solution for waste from research and medical activities. Efforts to reduce the volume of waste produced (35,000 m 3 in 1988, 12,000 m 3 in 2012) will make it possible to absorb the additional waste flow generated by ongoing dismantling programs, since the overall flow will remain below the design flow of the Aube storage center (30,000 m 3 per year).
