1. Objective

The reason we place so much emphasis on modeling is that the aim of CAD is to create a model (virtual mock-up) with the following two properties:

  • represent object properties (in the broadest sense) ;

  • be usable (calculations, simulations, preparation of ranges, etc.).

Note :

it is of course essential to have the necessary hardware (computer, screen, etc.), which we won't go into here as their characteristics are well known.

The general architecture of a CAD system is shown in figure 1 .
