7. Discussion and conclusions
The use of 3D printing makes it possible to produce geometries with good dimensional control, low weight and material savings. There are few limits to the level of complexity of the part to be produced, as many shapes are difficult or impossible to produce using traditional methods such as casting technology. This is why 3D printing is today the technology best suited to meet the need for patient-specific treatment demanded by healthcare professionals, thanks to the customizability and reproducibility of the parts manufactured.
The digital chain of additive manufacturing is simplified compared to conventional manufacturing methods. The time between design and production is considerably reduced, since in the manufacturing stages there is only software and a single final machine, resulting in a reduction in manpower.
