3. Knitwear with two separate, joined faces

These knits can be produced in both picked and cast-off stitches.

3.1 Straight tubes and multitubes

Circular machines, whether drop- or pick-mesh, can only produce a single tube. Straightening machines are needed to produce several tubes simultaneously. The principle of producing a tube or several tubes connected by one of their bases consists in knitting two separate faces, each produced by a needle bed, and connecting them together at the sides (figure 13 ).
