The cavitation test used to characterize the adhesion and cohesion of thin coatings is similar to the test described in ASTM G-32. Whereas in this standard, erosion resistance is assessed by mass loss or possibly eroded depth as a function of time, in the case of the thin coatings discussed here, cavitation resistance is assessed from the uncovered substrate area (§
