4. Application examples
The examples described below illustrate the experimental approach adopted by various research groups to use the ultrasonic cavitation test to assess the adhesion and/or cohesion of thin, continuous or particulate coatings. It is important to note that many of these studies have been carried out on industrial systems, as part of collaborations that have led to the transitional or definitive adoption of this test in industrial laboratories. For example, in the examples described below, the work by Haidara et al. on metallized films (packaging, capacitors, magnetic films) was developed as part of a European project supported at industrial level by Du Pont de Nemours and BASF. Pigerre et al.'s work on paint coatings on steel was developed as part of an industrial collaboration with Arcelor.
