2. From natural micron talc to synthetic nanotalc
With a view to developing new composite materials incorporating talc in their formulation, and taking into account the industrial context of the Midi-Pyrénées region, a study was undertaken on the codeposition of talc in metal matrices used for surface deposition. The surface treatment sector is one of the region's industrial centers of excellence, with major companies in the aeronautics sector (EADS, Turboméca, SNECMA, Mécaprotec, etc.). The development of wet codeposition techniques for metal-matrix composite coatings and the search for new formulations are therefore of considerable interest to this sector. In the particular case of composite coatings based on "lubricating" and refractory particles such as talc, the potential applications are significant in dynamic mechanical assemblies operating at high temperatures (aeronautical engines, energy production), talc being stable up to 950°C....
