4. Glossary
Nanoparticle; nanoparticle
A nanoparticle is a nano-object whose three dimensions are on the nanometric scale, i.e. a particle with a nominal diameter of less than around 100 nm.
Dispersité; dispersity
Dispersity gives an initial idea of the size distribution of nanomaterials. For a perfect nanomaterial, where all molecules have the same size, dispersity would be equal to 1.
Polydispersity; polydispersité
Polydispersity represents the size distribution of a particle population. Polydisperse nanomaterials have more than one population family of different sizes.
Batch reactor
Batch reactor assimilated to an open reactor, as opposed to a continuous reactor as in microfuidics.
