Biodegradable; biodegradable

Refers to a polymer that breaks down under natural or induced action, converting into simple molecules called degradation products, easily eliminated by the body.

Biodistribution; biodistribution

Distribution of the active substance to the various organs following drug administration.

Targeting

Operation which consists in promoting the distribution of an active substance in a particular tissue of the body.

Complement; complement

The complement system comprises 35 serum proteins, 12 of which are directly involved in pathogen elimination, while the others regulate pathogen activity.
