Cellulose nanocrystal (CNC); Cellulose nanocrystal
Cellulosic nanomaterial in the form of a rigid rod, generally obtained by acid hydrolysis, with a width of 3-10 nm and a form factor greater than 5.
Cellulose nanofibril (CNF); Cellulose nanofibril
Cellulosic nanomaterial in filament form, generally obtained by mechanical defibrillation, with a width of 5-30 nm and a form factor greater than 50.
Cellulose microfibril (CMF); Cellulose microfibril
Cellulose nanomaterial in filament form, generally obtained by mechanical defibrillation, with a width of 10-100 nm and a length of 0.5-10 µm.

...Statistical and economic data
It is envisaged that the time-to-market for nanocellulose will be similar to that for plastics.
This curve predicts that the estimated size of the global nanocellulose market will be reached around 2045. Commercial sustainability criteria and global environmental concerns could accelerate production beyond this conservative estimate.
