4.1 Oxycutting

Oxygen (cutting)
This gas is generally delivered with a guaranteed impurity content of less than 0.5% (oxygen content > 99.5%), which is sufficient for the process. A higher oxygen content improves operating speed and quality. The use of laser-grade oxygen has proved its worth with demanding users. Oxygen levels below 98% result in a reduction in operating speed; oxygen levels below 96% no longer enable clean industrial oxygen cutting at acceptable speeds.
Consistent purity guarantees consistent results. Oxygen purity must be considered at the flashlight outlet, not in the tank or in the storage cylinders; this implies clean lines, tight hoses and connections, and procedures for purging circuits...
