3. Solid phase sintering modeling

The first sintering stage, during which bridges are formed between grains, is modeled by the welding of two spherical grains of the same size; subsequent stages are described by the disappearance of pores assumed to be cylindrical (open porosity) then spherical (closed porosity) in a stack formed by grains represented by truncated cuboctahedrons.

3.1 Bridge construction

The appearance of the first contacts between the grains may be due to electrostatic-type forces or to chemical bonds between the surface species (elimination of water with bridging between the grains, for example).
