3. Machined material properties and machinability

3.1 Importance of the problem

The materials used for the machined parts were selected according to their final destination.

But the composition of a steel, for example (structure, additional elements) affects its machinability.

Numerous metals with "improved machinability" have been developed to reduce cutting time (increase in v c and f ), reduce downtime (less frequent tool changes) and improve machining quality (lower roughness, in particular), while maintaining the functional characteristics of the manufactured part.
