6. Other components
We have only superficially studied the three main mechanical components of a machine tool. Nevertheless, a non-specialist reader may be able to derive a few rules of good design, most of which are universal. Among these, we favour the rule of the single grip of the part to be machined, which, even if it cannot always be applied, imposes on the designer and the engineer, whether executing or managing, a discipline that will always be beneficial. In particular, it brings to the fore the notion of proof, in its mathematical or logical sense, which is not customary in the constructive arts, which are all given over to empiricism, often to arbitrariness and routine.
In addition to the ones we've examined, and still sticking to mechanical components, we should add a few more.
