2. State of the art

In this section, we will try to illustrate the application of high-speed machining to the various technologies and materials mentioned above.

For each example presented, we will endeavour to specify :

  • the main criterion for optimizing the operation;

  • the main constraints to be respected ;

  • the principle involved in HSM.

Remembering that the industrialist always aims for an improvement in overall profitability, measured on the complete part and not on the elementary operation.
