2. HLE sheet metal

2.1 Method of production: general cycle

These sheets all contain aluminum, niobium, vanadium and titanium . They are obtained by hot rolling, during which they undergo a sharp reduction in thickness of around 70%. This results in considerable hardening of the metal, introducing significant changes in the crystalline structure of the grains:

  • the density of defects (dislocations) increases;

  • the weakly anisotropic distribution of crystallographic grain orientations is transformed...
