4. Design and calculation of glued joints
Various calculation methods based on different bonding theories exist for calculating and dimensioning bonded joints. They call on complex mathematical calculations and tools developed in the works cited in the bibliography (cf. ).
However, there are several computer programs that are easy to implement (by engineers, design offices...), which have been developed by technical and scientific organizations such as CETIM (Centre technique de l'industrie mécanique) in France, by European laboratories and universities with a Materials and Bonding department (cf. ). Examples include CETIM's CADIAC and CASTOR 3D software.
This software calculates stress distribution in bonded assemblies, and applies to the most common assembly configurations used in industry.
