8. Conclusion

The "overview" provided in this article, incomplete though it may be, highlights the extreme variety of metallic materials, and the development of new grades likely to be taken into account by designers of mechanical objects. Comparisons with older, more complete works [94] will also show that the panorama is changing. Slowly enough for many basic principles to remain, but quickly enough for concerns about modeling, selection methods and competition with non-metallic materials to be addressed in different terms.
