7. Conclusion

In shaping, uncertainties are often taken into account by defining safety coefficients. This generates additional costs, and ensures neither reliability nor stability of the process. The main reason for resorting to this intuitive concept is the absence of a clear strategy for assessing the probability of process failure. Assessing process reliability is often difficult, given the non-linearities of the problem, implicit limit states and the absence of a probabilistic characterization of uncertain parameters. In this paper, we propose an innovative strategy that does not depend on the type of process or finite element code. This approach enables the probability of failure likely to occur to be assessed using metamodels. It overcomes the difficulties associated with safety coefficients and exploits the formability or feasibility domain to the full.
