7. Plant safety

As with any mechanical component, simple safety rules must be observed in installations using transmission or handling chains. These rules apply to storage prior to assembly, to assembly and disassembly of the chain or chain components, and to start-up of the installation.

But, of course, the safety of an installation depends first and foremost on the rigor of its design, the quality of its construction and the monitoring of its maintenance, three areas which have been dealt with in the preceding paragraphs.

7.1 Storage

Not only the service life, but also the safety of an installation can be compromised by prior storage conditions for chains and transmission accessories that do not comply with the following rules:
