5. Antifriction materials for hydrodynamic conditions (M3)

This operating regime requires specific properties of the ring or bushing, which are often contradictory. One way of avoiding this difficulty is to use multi-layer materials, but also materials with multi-phase structures.

5.1 Base materials

Given the wide variety of materials available for this regime, only the major families of materials and their specific properties are mentioned. A more detailed presentation can be found in Cazaud's book [49] .
