2. Main stop types
Table 2 gives a schematic view and characteristics of the main hydrostatic thrust bearings. These results are based on an approximate analytical calculation where :
linear pressure variations between the edge of the cells and the ends of the stop, i.e. where the clearance is smallest;
a constant pressure, equal to p a , in the inter-alveolar regions, i.e. within the area bounded by the dashed lines on the sections.
A comparison of the results obtained with analytical approaches and those calculated numerically using calculation codes shows that deviations are small as long as the width of the bearing seats remains small in relation to the other dimensions of the thrust...
