Let's start with the general layout of a steel mill gearbox.
Figure 19 shows a schematic diagram of a reducer used to control steel mill rolls.
We see the main motor, the main gearbox, the pinion cage with a 1/1 ratio and a center distance equal to the center distance of the two controlled cylinders.
