3. Disc brake controls
For passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, the main braking system is hydraulically operated on all the vehicle's wheels, while parking braking can be provided by a mechanical device integrated into the front or rear disc brakes for vehicles equipped with four disc brakes; for mixed equipment (disc, drum), parking braking is provided by the drum brakes.
For other vehicles (trucks and others), there are no rules.
3.1 Hydraulic control (main braking)
The hydraulic pressure acting in the brake cylinder(s) presses the friction elements against the disc, generating braking torque. When the braking action ceases (when the pressure value drops to zero), these friction elements must cease to be in contact with the disc in order to avoid...
