4. Fixing fittings

The gaskets are attached by two methods: riveting or gluing, the latter being used more and more frequently.

4.1 Riveting

The number, dimensions and type of rivets have been studied by the manufacturer and the specifications must be strictly adhered to.

The choice of rivets depends on :

  • drilling diameter, between 0.7 and 0.8 times the rivet diameter;

  • of the under-head length (figure 7 ), equal to the thickness of the flange added to that of the insert (countersink) plus a coefficient equal to 0.6 to 1.2 times the rivet diameter. Quality must meet hardness standards.
