4. Stationary conservation
Prolonged shutdowns (e.g. for seasonal operation) can be more damaging to equipment condition than operation under nominal operating conditions. In particular, keeping the turbine in a damp and possibly aggressive atmosphere is a factor that favors corrosion or fatigue-corrosion phenomena likely to develop in sensitive areas.
The operator's primary concern is to bring the machine into a dry state as soon as possible after shutdown. This is achieved by sweeping all parts of the turbine steam circuit with dry air, using external means. Whenever possible, we recommend draining and drying the condenser.
Preservation quality is regularly checked by analyzing air humidity levels at the outlets. Other actions complement these provisions, the main ones being :
