6. Propeller manufacture
Propeller manufacture comprises three phases: casting, finishing (by grinding or machining) and geometric control.
6.1 Propeller materials
Propeller materials must have the following qualities:
ease of manufacture (molding) ;
good mechanical strength ;
low marine corrosion ;
resistance to erosion (cavitation in particular) ;
dirt resistance ;
ease of repair (metal supply in the event of damage).
