5. Conclusion
This article gives only an overview of the specifications of motor vehicle engine manufacturers. Many manufacturers are not mentioned, particularly those of large industrial diesel engines, but the specifications discussed in this document are the most widely followed by the lubricant industry. They are presented here in a very summarized and schematic way. For more detailed information, please consult the original, often highly complex, specification documents or, at the very least, contact the major lubricant additive manufacturers, who have regularly updated computerized documentation on the subject. Indeed, these specifications evolve at a very (too?) rapid pace, in line with the emergence of new engine and lubricant technologies, new regulations on pollutant emissions and economic considerations.
