This detailed design (or development, or project) phase is aimed at preparing contracts, which involves :
design and performance validation and demonstration;
to have frozen physical, functional and organizational interfaces;
to have fixed the normative and technical frame of reference;
prior validation of contract content with regard to the responsibilities entrusted to manufacturers and their capabilities (technical, cost, lead times, etc.).
