4. Conclusion

Phase transfer processes are generally efficient, minimizing or even avoiding the use of organic solvents, and considerably facilitating separation and purification steps. In addition to phase transfer catalysis, now a well-established and widely used technique, more recent work on reverse phase transfer and thermoregulated systems is opening up interesting prospects. Reverse phase transfer using auxiliaries such as host molecules or surfactants seems to be able to transpose many classic organic chemistry reactions to aqueous media. Thermoregulated systems based on phase transfer or phase separation induced by an external stimulus, temperature, without the addition of any auxiliaries, are a promising alternative. In addition to the numerous studies already carried out on fluorinated phases, further studies of systems using aqueous and/or ionic liquid phases should provide access to a range...
