3. Conclusion

Fifteen years after their appearance in the literature, fluorinated techniques offer a wide range of methodologies to facilitate the purification of complex reaction mixtures. The combination of fluorinated molecules and liquid or solid fluorinated supports offers an ideal compromise in terms of simplicity of process implementation, reactivity, efficiency and simplicity of purification. When the purification step in a chemical reaction is seen as a key process step, fluorinated techniques are now to be considered as a credible and viable alternative to solid-support chemistry. For catalysis applications, fluorinated two-phase catalysis is the technique of choice for highly efficient catalyst recycling, and offers strong potential for industrial applicability.
